“This band has its roots buried deep in the Benny Goodman Sextet tradition. Same instrumentation – clarinet, vibraphone, piano, guitar, bass and drums – and arrangements that echo those of the BG six. Playing Goodman-based charts can be fraught with peril unless you have skilled musicians in every chair.”

The American Rag

“On behalf of the Madison Jazz Society’s members, officers and directors, I want to extend our thanks for the great performance by these artists at our twentieth annual Capital City Jazz Fest. It exceeded our expectations! It was a great source of pride that we were able to present you for the first time to the Madison jazz audience. We look forward to seeing you again.”

Madison Jazz Society

“I was walking on air most of the time, especially Saturday afternoon at the Little Bear. The experience reached its zenith during Deejha Marie’s set — out of this world! The groups, the weather , the music were super. We reviewed the Comment Cards from the attendees and they were the big winner!!! The only figures I have seen are attendance at each venue and that shows that AM was our most popular band this year. Considering the quality of the bands we had this year, that is really saying something

Evergreen Jazz Festival

“Wow! Your show tonight was much better that even the Clocktower shows. You fellows are simply amazing. I am so glad I attended tonight. As I said, my eyes were wet for two hours tonight. You and yours are masterful. Phenomenal. With a big band, all the voices blend. With a small ensemble, every note shines through. I know a lot about stage instrumental performances; there was not a single flub all night. Just sayin’. The Swing Sextet is a rare combo, and a gem for music in Colorado. I feel so darned lucky. You know, we have terrific music here in Colorado, and some of the very best in the world.”

American Vernacular Dance

“They played for my wedding in May 2021 after rescheduling from February of 2020 due to Covid. They are incredibly professional/organized as well as excellent musicians. The band leader was always super prompt and friendly with his email responses and when we had to postpone our wedding was more than happy to accommodate. The band took my MANY father/daughter song requests in stride and played everything perfectly on the big day. As a professional musician myself, the most important thing to me was to have great music at my wedding. I scoured the internet, talked to many friends, and after listening to just a few recordings, I knew they were the best band in town. What I found in my search is that while most wedding/cover bands understand the requirements of playing a wedding reception, they aren’t necessarily full-time established musicians (so the quality of the music suffers). On the other hand, you can go with a group of full-time established musicians, but they may not understand how to emcee a wedding reception. This is a jazz band that knows how to do weddings, so in my opinion, the best of all worlds. I am so grateful that they made my wedding day so special.”
