New Orleans-Style Band

The Challenge
A new live music venue on the Las Vegas Strip aimed to create an authentic New Orleans-themed entertainment experience featuring brass bands and second line processions. However, Las Vegas faced a significant talent gap, with limited musicians trained in traditional New Orleans brass band music. This challenge was compounded by Las Vegas’s unique entertainment landscape, which typically involves high operational costs and complex logistics for establishing themed venues.

Our Approach
Altus Entertainment developed a comprehensive solution that combined talent development with strategic venue planning. They recruited four veteran New Orleans musicians as master trainers and implemented an intensive three-month training program for 50 Las Vegas-based musicians, focusing on both technical skills and cultural authenticity. This approach created a sustainable talent pool for ongoing performances while designing three daily performance sets that incorporated authentic second line processions from the Strip, thereby creating an immersive New Orleans atmosphere.

The Result
The project successfully transformed the Las Vegas entertainment landscape by establishing a newly trained pool of professional brass musicians, which allowed for flexible performance combinations and dynamic programming. This effort delivered an authentic New Orleans experience, complete with traditional elements like umbrella and handkerchief celebrations, and enhanced the Las Vegas live music scene with a unique cultural offering that merged the energy of New Orleans with the glamour of the Strip. Ultimately, the success of this project demonstrated how strategic talent development and careful venue planning could overcome local market limitations while creating an authentic and sustainable entertainment experience.
